Young Jewish Leaders: Innovation in Israel

This event, sponsored by Young Jewish Leaders, will explore the "start-up nation" culture in Israel and its impact on the world. Joseph Jacobson, the featured speaker, is an extraordinary entrepreneur and lives in Israel with his family. He is a professor at the Media Lab at MIT. He is one of the inventors/founders of the technology for the Kindle and was inducted into the Inventor's Hall of Fame in 2016.

Mission of Young Jewish Leaders (YJL)

YJL promotes education and encourages discussion about the Middle East conflict among Jewish students and between Jewish and non-Jewish students at private secular high schools. YJL believes that answers to seemingly intractable problems like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict require open discussion, hearing alternate perspectives, and experimenting with controversial ideas. Preconceived notions must be blurred before solutions can be found. At the core of YJL is the idea that, through education and discussion, we can engender understanding across cultures, leading to meaningful social change and conflict resolution.
